Inspiring the Rafiki Mwema’s rescued girls to develop life-supporting skills
CreateCare Global is supporting Rafiki Mwema, an Australian based charity, wholly run in Kenya by Kenyans.
Rafiki rescues young girls subjected to abuse in the streets of Nairobi. They counsel the girls and educate them. Many go on on to lead full lives. You can find out all about them here.
Rafiki has a sewing room, ably run by St Veronica, as the girls like to call her, because she is so endlessly patient with them; especially with children who have learning difficulties.
The sewing room is equipped with two old-fashioned pedal sewing machines.
As the girls make all their own uniforms, our wonderful donors have already supported them with the money for an electric sewing machine.
With our deepest gratitude for your willingness to support and enrich the lives of orphaned or vulnerable children.
Now we are seeking other help them with a cobbler’s machine not only to make their own shoes but to develop skills and a trade.
With such a traumatic start to life, how good to help them heal by supporting their sewing and show-making prowess, and so their resourcefulness, creativity, and sense of achievement.
