The issue
Feed kids by funding seeds
Feeding orphaned and vulnerable children has long been a problem in many rural parts of Africa, but Covid-19 and lockdown has made it even more dire.
Chrisphine Ochieng Okumu is a permaculture educator in Busia, Kenya and founder of BlueBell Orphanage.
In an effort to feed kids from 50 vulnerable families who also support local orphaned children, he has taught 10 farmers how to grow vegetables which include all the staple foods for a nourishing diet—potatoes, maize, beans, carrots and kale.
The challenge
The rains have come and planting season is here, but they do not have the funds for the seeds.
Small Act
You can fund seeds for staple crops that will feed hundreds of children.
Your Small Act options
